Bećir Vuković was awarded the Thirteenth of July Award, a move intended to undermine the significance of one of Montenegro’s most prestigious honors and the anniversary of its establishment, remarked Aleksandra Vuković Kuč, an MP from the Democratic Party of Socialists.
She highlighted that Vuković denies the existence of Montenegro and its national identity, labeling him a columnist for IN4S who has been “honored for disparaging Montenegro.”
“Today, a person whom Montenegro represents as the irony of history is receiving an award—an indication that this government embodies the anti-Montenegrin sarcasm of our times,” said Vuković Kuč.
She noted that the fair showcasing spiritual poverty, cultural absence, and the anti-artistic pursuits of untalented individuals rewarding each other for their mercenary distortions of Montenegro “has made its statement today, providing us with a counterpoint for the future.”
Vuković Kuč asserted that the fight against this nationalist farce in power needs to be more inspiring and vigorous than ever before.
“The apparent triumph of triviality does not signify the downfall of art and civil society; rather, it serves as a motivation to persistently advocate for the values of culture and anti-fascism,” Vuković Kuč emphasized.
