Adriatic’s Young Water Polo Players Crowned Champions of Montenegro
The young water polo stars from the Adriatic have clinched the title of champions in Montenegro for players born in 2007 and later.
The Herceg Novi team secured four consecutive victories during the tournament held from March 16 to 18 at Škver, competing against Primorje, Budva, Budućnost, and Verde.
In the crucial match for first place, after both teams had each notched three wins, Jadran triumphed over Primorje with a score of 12:9.
Strahinja Gojković shined with an impressive six goals for Jadran, while Miljan Bošković contributed three. On the opposing Kotor team, Relja Vukanić and Đorđe Pajović were the top scorers, each netting three goals.
Earlier in the tournament, Jadran overwhelmed Budućnost 16:5, defeated Verde 13:8, and won against Budva 18:10.
Primorac secured second place with victories against Verde (17:6), Budućnost (13:3), and Budva (12:7).
Both Jadran and Primorac, as the top two teams, have qualified for the Final 8 tournament of the Adriatic League.
Budva’s young water polo players claimed third place, with wins over Verde (14:5) and Budućnost (9:7).
Budućnost finished fourth, achieving a lone victory over city rivals Verde (6:4).
Verde concluded the tournament without any points.
During the competition in Herceg Novi, candidates for our two younger selections were showcased, as they prepare for two major tournaments this summer—the European championships for U15 and U17 categories.
The U15 selection is set to compete in July at a tournament hosted in Podgorica, while the U17 national team will participate in August in Manisa, Turkey.
