Women’s Handball Team Triumphs Over Lithuania with 10 Goals from Natalija Lekić

The Montenegrin women’s handball team commenced their journey at the European Women’s U19 Championship held in Podgorica.
In the opening match of Group B, under the guidance of coach Igor Marković, the team triumphed over Lithuania with a score of 36:31, taking a significant step towards securing one of the top two spots in the group that will advance to the main round.
The match remained competitive for the first 15 minutes. However, by the 20-minute mark, the Montenegrin team established a three-goal lead (10:7), which they maintained throughout the first half (16:13).
The outcome became clearer following an impressive start to the second half, as the youthful “lionesses” netted 12 goals in just nine minutes, building a substantial lead of 10 goals (28:18).
Natalija Lekić shone as the top scorer with 10 goals, while Sanja Andrijašević contributed five. Mia Grujić, Maja Ceklić, and Ksenija Gašević added four goals each. Goalkeeper Teodora Rončević recorded an impressive 13 saves.
The next challenge awaits on Thursday at 5 PM against Denmark, who secured a victory against Iceland with a score of 31:25 in their opening match.
