Firefighters in Bijelo Polje have been busy recently, combating multiple fires across various locations.
“We responded to a forest fire in the village of Žuber, utilizing a specialized vehicle and a team of five firefighters. The blaze was contained on Bjelasica in Novakov dol, where the property of Milija Nišavica was engulfed in flames. In Konatari, we tackled fires in low vegetation and unmowed meadows that posed a risk to nearby structures, but we managed to control the situation swiftly. Two specialized vehicles and five firefighters were dispatched to Bijedići to address a fire caused by burning garbage, which quickly spread toward residential buildings but was localized without any material losses. A hay fire in Obrovo extended into the forest, prompting a response from two specialized vehicles and four firefighters,” stated Edin Kolić, commander of the Bijelo Polje Protection and Rescue Service, noting that human negligence was the cause behind all these fires.
In addition to firefighting efforts, water supplies were distributed to residents in Galice, Barice, Kisjela vode, Obrovo, Brestovik, Lahol, and Potrka, and assistance was provided in gaining access to a catering facility where a guest was trapped.
