Andrija Petanović, a fugitive linked to cigarette smuggling by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT), was captured today at Podgorica airport, sources tell Vijesti.
Officers from the Special Police Department (SPO) apprehended him.
Petanović was taken into custody around 4 p.m.
He is believed to be a part of an organized crime group (OKG) led by security guard Duško Golubović and Sander Stanaj from Tužana, both of whom have been arrested.
The SDT indicates that since its inception, the criminal organization has included members like Nuo Stanaj, Abedin Pepić, Andrija Petanović, Vukota Vujošević, Đoko Lješković, Mileta Simanić, Adnan Suković, Ivan Turčinović, Predrag Madžgalj, Veton Berišaj, Prokopije Perić, Dejan Milić, Radoje Dakić, the now-deceased DV, and several others who have yet to be identified.
The special prosecutor determined through communications from the formerly protected Sky application that the multi-member criminal organization was heavily reliant on Golubović and Sander Stanaj for its operations.
Decryptions of messages exchanged among clan members reveal that they held pivotal roles in running their illegal activities, with a Tuzanin acquiring cigarettes and transporting them to the port of Bar, while a senior police official was misusing his position to export them from the Free Zone.
Petanović owns the “Petanović” pharmacy.
