Another player who significantly contributed to the success of the “Lionesses” has decided to retire from her career.
Marta Batinović has informed Petar Kapisod, the President of the Handball Federation of Montenegro, about her decision to retire from both club and national team play. She has been an integral part of the national team since her debut in September 2019 during the qualifying match against Italy for EHF Euro 2020. Her first major tournament was the World Championship in Japan later that year.
Over the past six years, this goalkeeper, born on April 20, 1990, in Metković, represented Montenegro at various European and world championships. Her most notable achievement came in 2022 when she was part of the “lionesses” team that secured a bronze medal at the EHF Euro, hosted by Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro.
Her final appearance in the national jersey was in April during a playoff against Portugal, where Montenegro secured qualification for the World Cup after two victories.
