The Board of Directors of the “Budvanska rivijera” hotel group convened today and elected Luka Vukalović from Herceg Novi as its president. Vukalović, a hotel management specialist and the current director of the control sector at the Igalo “Dr Simo Milošević” health center, was confirmed in this role by the company to “Vijesti”.
With this change, the Europe Movement has gained control over the largest hotel company that is primarily state-owned, taking over from the Democrats.
Previous president of the board, Mijomir Pejović, resigned and exited the meeting room before the vote, as reported to “Vijesti”.
There were indications of a prior agreement that Pejović would lead the Board of Directors until the current government’s term ended, representing the Democrats.
Sources within PES informed “Vijesti” that the position rightfully belongs to their members, who will manage the Board of Directors for a membership fee of 500 euros, rather than through a salaried professional engagement as before.
Speculations are circulating that “Budvanska rivijera” is set for privatization, with Pejović’s removal seen as a result of his opposition to this plan from the onset.
Pejović resisted the proposal put forth by two board members from PES and two from minority shareholders for Vukalović to be appointed as the board leader.
According to the Government Commission for Personnel and Administrative Issues, Vukalović’s biography states that he is a senior sports coach specializing in boxing, a graduate sports manager, and a hotel management expert who was the Montenegrin boxing champion in 2000.
In the past year, HG “Budvanska rivijera” achieved its best business results in the last thirty years.
