Officers from the Interpol NCB Podgorica and the Podgorica Security Department have detained Turkish national AS (37). An international arrest warrant was issued for him due to suspicions of multiple criminal offenses.
The Police Directorate confirmed that the international warrant was issued by Interpol NCB Ankara.
According to the statement, “Exceptional international operational cooperation and the continuous exchange of operational and intelligence information between the officers of Interpol NCB Podgorica and Interpol NCB Ankara led to the successful arrest of an individual identified as a high-risk repeat offender in Turkey, who has been the focus of police efforts for many years.”
The Court in Bakirkoy, Turkey, has issued an order requesting AS’s presence in ongoing criminal proceedings against him, under suspicion of intentionally causing injury with a weapon and violating firearms laws, which could result in a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
AS is expected to be presented before the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica within the legally required timeframe to determine his extradition detention.
