The National Association of Fish Producers and a segment of fishermen have announced their decision to blockade the Bay of Kotor on Sunday, as confirmed by the association to “Vijesti” (News).

During the blockade, fishermen will also voice their concerns to Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.

According to “Vijesti,” the sea blockade is set to take place near the Kumbor settlement in Herceg Novi.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Vladimir Joković, stated today that he will make every effort to address the association’s demands, citing issues like insufficient berths and infrastructure for landing fish. However, he indicated that the protest may not aid in finding a solution. He plans to arrange a meeting with the fishermen.

Nonetheless, the fishermen assert that a specific time for the meeting has not been proposed, prompting them to proceed with their plans.

“We are going on strike; all fishermen are resolute. Tonight, there will be a meeting among fishermen, and on Sunday, the blockade will take place. The minister has not provided a date or time, and vague promises won’t suffice. He claims not to be competent, yet he should have initiated discussions with other ministries to resolve the issues rather than forcing us into a position where we must create blockades. He has been aware of these problems from the beginning. Our next point of contact is Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, who likely has the overall responsibility,” the association emphasized.

Additionally, the fishermen have requested increased support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, the establishment of ports for docking and mooring ships, facilities for loading and storing heavy equipment, a reduction in VAT to seven percent on the import of equipment and vessels, the creation of a guarantee fund, and financial compensation of at least 10 percent of revenue from fees collected from cruisers and speedboats…
