The bodies of a 12-year-old child and two men, aged 43 and 63, were discovered in a house in central Prilep, as announced by the Prilep prosecutor’s office today.
Initial reports indicate that the 63-year-old man fatally shot his nephew and son following family disputes and unresolved property matters.
“After the incident, he shared his motivations for the act on a social media platform before taking his own life,” the statement revealed.
According to law enforcement, 63-year-old P. Đ. ended his life after police visited his residence, prompted by concerns raised by the wife of one of the deceased.
Reports suggest that yesterday around 3:13 PM, P. Đ. from Prilep invited his nephew P. Č. to his home, insisting that his minor son accompany him.
“Preliminary evidence and eyewitness statements collected by the Prilep Police indicate that between 3:30 PM and 4:00 PM, gunfire was heard near P.D.’s residence, likely coinciding with the moment he shot his nephew and son. Prior to this, the police had not received any shooting reports from the area,” the statement detailed.
Furthermore, police discovered a dubious status posted on a Facebook profile, believed to belong to Uncle P. Đ., at 5:10 PM, naming his sister and nephew, indicating it had been posted after the murders.
After her husband became unreachable by phone, his wife went to his uncle’s house. She found his car parked outside, but no one answered the door.
Upon receiving the report at 9:20 PM last night, the police dispatched a team to the residence. When no one responded, they forced entry after consulting with the prosecutor.
“Upon entering, P. Đ. threw a smoke bomb, which did not detonate. After police retreated from the house, he opened fire, prompting the officers to return fire. They radioed in at 10:40 PM, reporting shots fired, shortly after which P. Đ. took his own life with a firearm,” the police statement explained.
