Montenegro ranks among the top eight in Europe for the cadet age group. Following the juniors, the cadets have also advanced to the quarterfinals of the European Championship, marking another significant achievement for Montenegrin handball with a decisive 31:20 victory over Croatia in the second round of the main round.
With four wins out of five matches in this elite competition, Anđelina Orbović and her teammates have proven their mettle, showcasing their potential as they head into the quarterfinals, no matter who their opponent may be.
The identity of the opponent in the quarter-finals will be revealed tonight after the final matches of the main round, which are set to commence at 19:30 p.m….
In an unexpected turn, Croatia managed to defeat the favorites, France, last night but found themselves in a challenging position today.
From the outset, it was clear that the success of the team, guided by coaches Miloš Perović and Bobana Krstović, was secured. By the 10th minute, the score was 5:1. Although Croatia narrowed the gap to one goal (5:4 by the 16th minute), the advantage ballooned again to a solid four-goal lead by halftime, concluding at 15:11.
The outcome became certain early in the second half, particularly when Jovana Tešović netted two consecutive goals, pushing the score to 19:12 in the 38th minute. The lead continued to expand, ending at a commanding differential of eleven goals.
Martina Knežević was the standout performer with eight goals, while Andrea Dragnić contributed five and was named player of the match.
Once again, the prowess of our goalkeeper was evident; Maša Dubljević made 16 saves, achieving an impressive 52% success rate!
