Thank You for Helping Montenegro Thrive Once More
President Jakov Milatović of Montenegro has expressed his gratitude through letters addressed to various leaders of countries that supported efforts to combat wildfires in Montenegro.
Letters of appreciation were sent to: President Zoran Milanović of Croatia, President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia, members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina including Denis Bećirović, Željka Cvijanović, and Željko Komšić, President Tamás Šujok of Hungary, President Petr Pavel of the Czech Republic, President Alexander Van der Bellen of Austria, and President Karin Keller-Suter of Switzerland.
Milatović remarked, “Montenegro has been facing a significant ecological and social disaster for the past ten days. From the north to the south, wildfires have wreaked havoc, affecting numerous regions and residences. The loss of our soldier, Dejan Božović, is a communal sorrow that will linger even after the flames subside,” as stated by his office.
He added that Montenegro, while “proud and strong in spirit,” is unable to tackle such immense challenges alone.
“The silver lining in this dark period is knowing we have friends we can depend on. I wish to sincerely thank you for your assistance. The sight of allied forces standing alongside our firefighters, soldiers, and police has provided hope to all of Montenegro. Thank you once again for helping Montenegro breathe again, for showing that in tough times, we are not alone and that we can count on you,” Milatović expressed in his letter of thanks.
