Polish striker Robert Lewandowski announced his retirement from the national team until coach Michal Probjez is no longer in charge.
“Given the current situation and my lack of confidence in the coach, I have made the decision to step back from the national team while he remains in this role. I hope to have the chance to play for the greatest fans in the world,” said the 36-year-old player.
Previously, Probjez removed the captaincy from the Barcelona forward, who has made 158 appearances for Poland and netted 85 goals.
Poland will face Finland in an away match on Tuesday, marking their third game in Group G of the World Cup qualifiers.
After two matches, Poland is currently leading the group with a perfect six points.
