Lithuania Secures Fourth Win During Preparation Phase
The Lithuanian national basketball team continues to showcase impressive performances during their preparation phase, as Rimas Kurtinaitis’ squad triumphed over Latvia (109:105) in an exciting Baltic derby last night, after an intense overtime.
This marks the fourth consecutive win for the Lithuanians in their preparation for EuroBasket. They had previously secured victories against Estonia, Turkey, and Georgia.
Last night’s game in Riga was a thrilling encounter. The Latvians held a 12-point lead in the third quarter (68:56), but they were unable to maintain their advantage. Lithuania mounted a comeback, with Jokubaitis sinking a crucial three-pointer to tie the game at 93:93, pushing it into overtime.
In the extra five minutes, Lithuania surged ahead 102:97, ultimately sealing the victory.
Jokubaitis was the standout performer for Lithuania, scoring 20 points, while Valanciunas contributed 16 points.
On the other side, Porzingis ended the match with 22 points.
Lithuania is set to face Montenegro in their EuroBasket group match, which is slated for August 29th.
