Jadran: The Top Choice in the Region
The water polo team Jadran from Herceg Novi has clinched the championship title of the Adriatic League in the U16 category.
The talented young athletes completed the tournament held in Novi Sad with an impeccable record, competing against teams such as Primorac, Budva, Jug, Šabac, Zadar, Košutnjak, Primorje, and the U16 national team of Slovenia (which participated outside the competitive standings).
Jadran secured the championship by winning all their matches in the group stage against Košutnjak (8:6), Vojvodina (14:4), Primorje (17:8), and Slovenia (16:10). They triumphed in the semifinals against Jug (13:9) and ultimately defeated Šabac in the final with a score of 22:15.
Danilo Stupar was a standout performer in the final, scoring seven goals and being named the best player of the tournament.
The accolade for the best goalkeeper went to Aleksa Mandić from Herceg Novi.
Primorac finished in fifth place after narrowly beating Slovenia with a score of 11:10.
Kotor had a challenging tournament, having previously defeated Budva (10:4) in the group stage but suffered losses to Jug (10:8), Šabac (16:11), and Zadar (11:6). In the playoff for positions 5 to 8, they secured victory over Košutnjak (17:15).
Budva ended the tournament in ninth place, winning their placement match against Vojvodina (12:9) after previously edging Zadar (16:15) but succumbing to Jug (13:9), Primorje (10:4), and Šabac (12:9) in the group stage.
