Residents of a building on Slobode Street in Podgorica will await a new facade until the end of the month. Earlier this year, a strong northern wind damaged the building’s facade in the city center.

According to “Vijestima,” the Housing Agency, led by Vladimir Tomovic, confirmed that this facade has been “mostly monitored.”

“Initially, we planned to install scaffolding and begin construction of the new facade by the end of July or the start of this month. However, due to an increased workload with previously initiated projects, these works are now extended to the end of August,” the Housing Agency stated.

As reported by “Vijesti” earlier, a part of the facade near Independence Square broke off and fell due to strong winds in mid-January.

At that time, the Housing Agency informed Vijesti television that the facade had been completed around 12 years ago, noting that the warranty period for the work was seven years.

“The Agency oversaw the work done on this facade 12 years ago, and there was a seven-year warranty for the performed work. The facade was completed in stages, as tenants did not have all the necessary funds, which likely impacted the quality of the work, since a building’s facade should maintain a unified appearance. This particular building is quite large and tall, making scaffolding installation challenging, which could have contributed to the issues observed,” the Agency explained previously.

The agency added that several initiatives are in progress to upgrade facades of residential buildings throughout the city.

“Currently, work is ongoing on at least ten buildings simultaneously through two campaigns. There is a notable interest among homeowners in constructing thermal insulation facades. This year is expected to set records for the area of thermal insulation facades being installed. Although the first half of the year faced many rainy and windy days, we anticipate a record year due to the simultaneous work on a large number of buildings,” the Agency reported.
