11. June 2024. 22:22

By formalizing an agreement between the maritime administrations of Montenegro and Cyprus, Montenegrin sailors now have the opportunity to work on ships registered under the Cypriot flag.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Transport and Maritime Filip Radulović alongside representatives from Cyprus.

Radulović remarked that this agreement is a significant advancement in enhancing the maritime relations between the two nations and opens new avenues for Montenegrin seafarers.

“This agreement provides our maritime professionals with access to additional employment opportunities on vessels operating under the Cypriot flag. It not only broadens the horizons of our maritime sector but also paves the way for Montenegrin seafarers to secure high-quality positions in the international maritime arena,” Radulović stated.

He emphasized that this initiative reaffirms Montenegro’s commitment to adhering to STCW regulations and standards, which guarantees that Montenegrin seafarers receive top-notch training, safety, and work quality.

Radulović added that this agreement opens up prospects for Montenegrin seafarers, including both seasoned professionals and cadets.

“With this new framework, our seafarers can now embark on employment with minimal administrative hurdles on ships under the Cypriot flag, where there are currently over a thousand vessels. This initiative is critical to the future success of our maritime industry,” Radulović noted, as reported by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime.
