According to representatives, the National Parks (NPCG) are witnessing an uptick in visitors, with Montenegro’s natural and cultural heritage attracting more active vacationers each year.
Marinela Đuretić, the director of the National Park of Montenegro, stated that all national parks are experiencing an increase in attendance.
“So far, Biogradska Gora National Park has welcomed 26,200 visitors, which is nearly 39 percent more than last year. The park opened earlier this year, and we anticipate that this protected area will be accessible year-round starting next season,” Đuretić told CGNews.
She noted that after the winter months, the National Park Service undertook significant efforts to enhance the area, including cleaning trails, removing various types of waste, and other initiatives to ensure visitors enjoy a comprehensive experience.
“In Biogradska Gora National Park, we’ve renovated traditional canoes, which are a popular attraction. Additionally, thanks to a donation from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIC), we have replaced outdated furniture, renovated a pontoon on the lake, and improved resting areas,” explained Đuretić.
She also mentioned a donation of equipment from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will undoubtedly aid the Protection Service in fulfilling its responsibilities more effectively in the future.
Đuretić further announced that a variety of projects are underway in the national parks. In Lovćen National Park, the PaCon II project is in progress, aimed at enhancing the Visitor Center, hiking trails, and accessibility for people with disabilities.
“In Durmitor NP, in collaboration with the Eco Fund, we are working on a project to reconstruct the trail around Crno Jezero and install a biofilter. In Skadar Lake NP, we plan to acquire a boat and outboard motor through upcoming projects. While Prokletije NP currently has no active projects, we are diligently working to improve the infrastructure and offerings in this park,” detailed Đuretić.
Ticket prices remain unchanged, and the National Parks of Montenegro is actively promoting an annual ticket, allowing citizens unlimited access to all five parks for just €13.50.
They also remind visitors that the “Visit Them All” campaign, running until July 15th in partnership with CKB, offers Visa cardholders a 50 percent cashback benefit, enabling ticket purchases for just €6.75.
