“Traded Dog for a Mercedes: Mišo Gaji of Bosanske Barake Claims Money is Not Everything”

Mirhad Dzafferagic, known as Mišo and hailing from Novi Travnik, has devoted his life to nurturing the Indigenous Breed of Bosnian Barak, a highly esteemed hunting breed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His expansive ranch, spanning 35 hectares of forest and meadow, serves as a haven for over a hundred dogs of this breed, positioning Jafferagic as one of the largest barak breeders in the area.

On this spacious estate, meticulously designed to create ideal conditions for the natural development of dogs’ instincts, Mišo trains his animals and ensures their well-being.

Jafferagic is renowned for the exceptional quality of his dogs, attracting interest from all corners of the globe. The most expensive barak was sold in Montenegro for an impressive 5,000 euros, with the transaction being particularly notable as the buyer exchanged a Mercedes vehicle for the dog, which later appeared in Split.

Nevertheless, Mišo emphasizes that financial gain is not his primary focus. Each year, his ranch produces between 250 and 300 puppies, many of which are given to friends and acquaintances, as he believes it’s crucial that the dogs find themselves in caring hands, according to Sandzak today.

Recently, a local television team visited Jafferagic’s ranch to document the daily life of this dedicated breeder. The footage captured the harmonious relationship between nature, the dogs, and Jafferagic, along with his devoted efforts to preserve and promote this indigenous Bosnian breed.

Jafferagic believes that baraks are more than just hunting dogs; they are integral to Bosnian culture and tradition. His mission extends beyond producing top-quality specimens of this breed; he aims to keep them from fading into obscurity and pass their significance on to future generations.

His dedicated work reflects his passion, commitment, and love for nature and animals. The baraks from his kennel have become ambassadors of Bosnian tradition and quality, with Jafferagic’s efforts recognized well beyond the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
