Traffic Police Detain Two Individuals and File 18 Misdemeanor Charges

Traffic police apprehended two individuals over the weekend, recorded 18 misdemeanor charges, and issued 173 misdemeanor warrants related to traffic infractions, as reported by the Police Directorate.
According to reports, officers from the Mobile Traffic Police Unit – Interceptors conducted heightened preventive and enforcement actions during the weekend.
“In addition to overseeing traffic on the highways, members of the Mobile Unit also supported the South and West regional security centers to ensure safety on heavily trafficked routes,” stated the police.
They indicated that, as part of these intensified operations, officers from the Mobile Traffic Police issued 18 misdemeanor reports, delivered 173 misdemeanor warrants, and temporarily seized six pairs of license plates due to traffic violations.
The police confirmed that two individuals were arrested, and EUR 1,589 was collected on-site using a POS terminal, accounting for two-thirds of the anticipated fines.
“Future operations will continue with an increased presence of police officers on all major roads, particularly those leading to tourist destinations,” the announcement noted.
The Police Directorate emphasized its commitment to enhancing the overall safety of all road users by mobilizing all available resources, including the Mobile Unit.
“We once again urge all drivers and tourists to adhere to traffic regulations to ensure their safety and that of other road users,” concluded the statement.
