The youth water polo team of Montenegro concluded their participation in the World Championship held in Bucharest and Otopeni, finishing in seventh place.

This wasn’t the outcome desired by Petr Radanović’s squad, who traveled to Romania aiming to defend their bronze medal. However, they at least concluded the tournament on a winning note.

In their final match of the World Cup, the Montenegrin team displayed formidable skills, securing a 12:9 victory over Croatia and wrapping up their campaign with a record of three wins and three defeats.

The U20 team took the lead early, establishing a 5:2 advantage in the first quarter, and held their most significant lead at 12:6 in the final period…

Balša Vučković emerged as the standout player for the winning team with three goals, while Jovan Vujović, Danilo Stupar, and Srđan Janović each contributed two goals. On the opposing side, Marko Mršić, Neđo Baštrica, and Matija Sladović managed to score one goal each.

This victory marks Montenegro’s second success over Croatia in the World Cup, having also emerged victorious in the previous group stage encounter.

Additionally, the team secured a win against Spain in the opening round, but faced defeats against the Italians in both the group stage and the playoff for placement from 5th to 8th, as well as against the United States.

Hungary claimed the championship title decisively, defeating Serbia 12:7, while the bronze medal went to the USA after their victory over Greece, finishing 11:6.
