During the ongoing evidence proceedings against Dražen P. Vojvodić and Novica G. Đikanović, accused of the horrific murder of Vidak Vujović, telephone conversations from April 10 to April 15, 2023, were played in court yesterday at the Higher Court in Podgorica.
Judge Veljko Radovanović, the presiding judge, previously indicated that they would review the secret surveillance evidence obtained via court order.
After the first phone call involving the number 068, both defendants confirmed that the voices were theirs.
On April 11, Đikanović spoke with his wife, who expressed despair, stating that her life felt worthless.
“Don’t worry. Just relax. You can sleep peacefully,” Đikanović responded.
“I might as well kill myself, that’s my option,” she replied.
“I feel sorry for him,” she added.
“Not for me, if he’s ready for it. Pi. Do you know what that signifies? It’s nothing,” he replied.
“He’s my friend, and that’s all there is to it,” concluded Đikanović, prompting his wife to end the call with a remark: “Disaster.”
Đikanović confirmed in court that he had a conversation with his colleague KR on April 11.
“My head is throbbing. I’m not feeling well,” he said.
“You’re feeling alright,” the accused replied, adding: “I need some funds to leave Podgorica.”
“What happened?” she inquired.
“Read ‘Vijesti’ and you will understand,” responded Đikanović.
Another conversation between Đikanović and his wife was played.
“Hey Novice, were you aware of any of this?”
“I have nothing to do with it. That’s his issue; he’s my friend,” Đikanović answered.
“Your friends are killing and burning,” she remarked.
“Everything is based on merit. No one targets me…” concluded Đikanović.
The defense attorney for Vojvodić, Damir Lekić, has proposed a review of the court orders pertaining to the secret surveillance measures.
The trial is set to resume on February 17.
The indictment states that on March 31, 2023, the defendants killed Vujović in a premeditated and brutal manner. According to the charges, Vojvodić initially fired four shots at him while the victim was still alive and pleading for mercy, yet he continued to fire.
After that, together with Đikanović, he poured gasoline over the body and ignited it.
