The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, expressed gratitude today to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and the National Security Council for denouncing the ruling from the Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which he described as a “political verdict”.

“I extend my thanks to President Aleksandar Vučić and the members of the National Security Council for rejecting and denouncing the political verdict delivered by the unconstitutional Court of BiH,” Dodik stated on the social media platform X.

He emphasized that Serbia has consistently supported RS and has never acted against BiH.

“Now, Serbia, as a responsible state and a signatory and guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, has recognized that the entire process is a political charade designed to uphold a fictitious high representative, representing an undemocratic and anti-civilizational act,” Dodik remarked.

Vučić stated that the National Security Council’s session produced conclusions related to the verdict against Dodik, labeling these judicial decisions as “undemocratic, anti-civilizational, and immoral,” noting that they represent a significant political assault on the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and on the integrity of the Dayton Agreement.

The Appellate Chamber of the Court of BiH affirmed the initial verdict against Dodik yesterday, sentencing him to a year in prison and a six-year disqualification from the presidency of the RS for not complying with the High Representative’s decisions in BiH. This ruling is final, with no right of appeal.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to revoke Dodik’s mandate within 15 days.
