Боян Роганович снова в российской элите

Swift and penetrating, just like a torpedo with a precise left-footed strike, Montenegrin defender Bojan Roganović aligns his club choice with his football philosophy and offensive style.

After his time at Buducnost, where he developed and secured the Montenegrin Cup, and a spell at OFK Titograd, Roganović made the leap to Torpedo Moscow, making his return to the Russian Premier League last weekend.

– I made an excellent choice; I’m enjoying Moscow, which offers incredible conditions and opportunities for athletes. The club boasts a rich history, a renowned name, and significant ambitions. We recently secured our spot in the Premier League amidst stiff competition from wealthy clubs, finishing second in the FNL, and we will soon have a new stadium under construction. Although we already have fantastic facilities – a club base, dining options, multiple stadiums, and fields of various surfaces – the 24-year-old left-back shared with “Vijesti”.

Our international player played a crucial role in securing the Second League runner-up title, contributing two goals from free kicks and providing three assists.

– Everything is genuinely ideal; I’ve acclimatized to the environment, learned the language, and the level of professionalism is outstanding. I have been part of the team for three seasons now, continuously alongside Croatian Mario Ćurić, and I have no intention of changing teams. Football can be unpredictable, but I have a solid two years left on my contract. Montenegrin players are held in high regard in the FNL; Mladen Kašćelan is a league icon, having helped every team he played for qualify for the Premier League. He now has the trust to lead Saratov from the bench after starting the season as an assistant coach in Nizhny Novgorod. Miloš Brnović joined mid-season, and Stefan Milić is in Chernomorets, and we’re all performing excellently. However, the true football icon in Russia is Miodrag Grof Božović, whose impact on Russian football is undeniable – Roganović explained.

He represented Torpedo in the Premier League during his first season and then spent two seasons in the FNL.

– The debut season was challenging with significant changes within the team, including four different coaches. You might play for one but not the next… Things improved with the arrival of Oleg Kononov, the former coach from Spartak and Krasnodar. Over a year and a half, he organized the team, leading us to elite status, with ambitions to solidify our position in the Premier League and ultimately challenge for the top spots. The competition is fierce, featuring exceptional players and wealthy clubs. The FNL, however, is more taxing; you’ve got to fly for seven hours and then play on artificial turf. There’s unpredictability regarding the surfaces for each match, making adaptation vital since the teams often possess similar quality, rendering every game uncertain.

Although the season concluded on May 24th, Roganović must return to Moscow within two days.

– The summer break is roughly ten days long, but in winter it can extend to 40 days. I usually return to Montenegro during that time. However, football demands organization and planning to maintain competitiveness and progress. Offensive play is my forte, and I’m currently focusing on enhancing my defensive skills to meet the standards for the fifth league. I am wholeheartedly dedicated to training and performance, as that’s the only path to success in football. Moreover, I relish playing in a more competitive environment, distinctly stronger than in Montenegro. In the FNL, clubs like Sochi, who returned to the Premier League through playoffs, and Ural present formidable challenges. Competing against top-tier adversaries is the best way to evolve and improve – Roganović concluded.
