Morsko dobro plans to purchase a luxury yacht, while Tivat awaits funds for the development of the Belane promenade

“Morsko Dobro Aims to Acquire Luxury Yacht as Tivat Anticipates Funding for Belane Promenade Development”

While the Public Company Morsko dobro, under the direction of NSD staff member Mladen Mikijelj and on the initiative of Minister Slaven Radunović, intends to allocate 400,000 euros of taxpayer money for a luxury yacht, citizens of Tivat have been left waiting for months for the state-owned company to fund the development of the Belane promenade. An official agreement for this project was signed with the Municipality of Tivat back in November of last year, according to the Municipal Committee of the European Union in Tivat.

Adding to the concern, the coalition states that the Belane promenade is not merely a city project—it serves as a public space for families, tourists, and residents of all ages; it represents the city’s identity.

“Rather than directing funds to where they are urgently needed—such as infrastructure, coastal development, and projects enhancing the quality of life for all citizens—the government opts to indulge in yacht rides.”

“This reckless and unacceptable practice highlights a disturbing priority: privileges for the political elite over the genuine needs of citizens. How can 400,000 euros be available for ‘protocol cruises’ but not for fulfilling contractual obligations to the local community?” the European Union questions.

They further urge that, as councilors in the Tivat Municipal Assembly, they call upon the relevant institutions to promptly investigate this matter and prevent the further misuse of public funds.

“We demand the immediate halt of the luxury vessel procurement, the urgent settlement of obligations to the Municipality of Tivat, and a transparent review of the public procurement plan of the Public Company Morsko Dobro. It is high time this government realizes that there is no ‘protocol priority’ that supersedes the interests of the citizens who finance them,” the statement concludes.
