By defeating Slovenia (37:32), the Montenegrin handball team concluded their friendly matches before the European Championship in Germany.

With just seven days remaining until the opening match against Hungary in Munich, there’s ample time to refine and adjust aspects of their game. The team’s performance is expected to improve with the return of the two Radovics – Mirko and Luka – as they faced Uroš Zorman’s team without a traditional right wing.

“Kudos to the players for their effort. It was a challenging game last night, and fatigue set in. We weren’t at full strength, lacking right wings. This posed a significant challenge against a strong Slovenian squad, which exploits every mistake. They restricted our middle play, forcing us to shoot from the right wing,” noted Vlado Šola.

The coach believes that their performance at the “Croatia Cup” provided valuable insights.

“We have a clearer understanding of our capabilities and which players will lead in the upcoming competition. This was the final assessment, allowing us to evaluate individual performances and behaviors in crucial situations. This will influence our lineup against Hungary,” he added.

With Vuk Borozan’s return, Montenegro has gained substantial strength in both defense and attack, and Šola has identified key players for important defensive roles.

“I’m pleased that we have depth in the third and fourth positions in defense, which will impact our lineup and the minutes allocated to each player. This is the primary concern for us. It’s beneficial to have depth among the backs; now we need to determine who will play,” concluded the 55-year-old coach, stating that he plans to address the issues identified in Poreč before heading to Germany.
