The Miočki katun in Gornje Vučje may be small compared to the number of households relying on it during the summer, but it faces significant issues. According to herders, there haven’t been construction machines on the macadam road leading from Dubravica, a hamlet of Mioške, to the mountain for seven years, despite multiple appeals to local authorities.
The poor condition of the road, which makes it impossible for any vehicles to traverse, has prompted them to reach out to the Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić. They also mentioned to “Vijesti” that they are currently exhausting their last supplies of water from two wells, explaining that, previously, when the road was better, the Kolašin Protection Service aided with water supply.
“For several years we have been addressing the mayors of Kolašin regarding the requests attached here. They have responded that they lack the proper machinery to clear the area. We find ourselves unable to transport food for our livestock in the katun. The mayor of Kolašin disregards our requests. Besides struggling to maintain the Miočki katun and care for our livestock, we are currently without water for both our animals and ourselves,” the residents wrote to Spajić, and also reached out to the mayor ten days prior.
The Prime Minister was informed that there is an individual at the katun with serious health issues requiring medication. Currently, even a truck, let alone an ambulance, cannot access the katun.
According to “Vijesti,” the situation for the two households with livestock is dire. They claim they feel compelled to either relocate to the village during an impractical time or slaughter their animals. Their only request is for authorities to send equipment to make the road passable for tractors and off-road vehicles.
“In our last correspondence to the mayor of Kolašin at the beginning of July, we detailed the necessity of the road to transport food to our piglets, lambs, and calves. Currently, we can only do this via horseback, while many other Kolašin katuns, with significantly smaller livestock, are accessible by asphalt roads,” they stated from Miočki katun.
Yesterday, inquiries to the municipality regarding whether the road to Miočki katun is on their list for rehabilitation went unanswered. The deputy mayor in charge of infrastructure projects, Vasilje Ivanović, claimed that he had never received any requests from cattle breeders in Gornje Vučje.
