Both Serbia and We Prefer to Avoid the European Champions in the Round of 16

The quest for a more favorable opponent in the round of 16 at the World Water Polo Championship in Fukuoka is set for tomorrow morning (Friday) at five o’clock in our timezone.
During their match against Serbia, Montenegro will be vying for either Japan or Croatia on their path to the quarter-finals—the winner will face the host nation, while the loser will face one of the world’s top teams.
“Neither Serbia nor we want to encounter the reigning European champion in the round of 16; we both desire a smoother route to the challenging goal of reaching the quarter-finals,” remarked Aljoša Mačić, one of the younger members of the national team.
He expressed that the upcoming match will be highly demanding, both physically and mentally.
“It will be a direct contest for second place, and I hope we can effectively halt their transitions and turn the game in our favor,” Mačić added.
What could be the deciding factor?
“Certainly, the performance of key players, especially after a tough match against Spain. However, we have prepared well, we understand each other’s play, and I trust we will be as effective as possible and secure a victory in the end,” Mačić concluded.
