The investigating judge at the Kotor Basic Court, Špiro Pavicevic, has ordered a detention period of up to 30 days for Miljan Petrić, a police inspector from the Budva Security Department, who faces charges for abuse of official position.

Judge Veljko Bulatović, a spokesperson for the court, confirmed to “Vijesti” that the defendant has been remanded in custody and transferred to Supka Remand Prison.

As reported by “Vijesti”, Judge Pavićević conducted the hearing with the defendant present alongside his defense attorney and followed the prosecutor’s request to impose detention.

For context, two days ago, police apprehended inspector Miljan Petrić and two others in Budva, who are suspected of abusing their official positions to the detriment of a Turkish citizen.

The Police Directorate (UP) officially confirmed the arrest of three individuals, including a police officer from the Budva Security Department.

“Specifically, MP (30), an officer in the Budva Security Department, was taken into custody on suspicion of abusing his official position, while DD (19) and PP, associated with an organized crime group, were arrested for their involvement in aiding this criminal offense,” stated the release.

The UP suspects that on June 7, 2025, while on duty, officer MP illegally obtained a financial benefit of 1,500 euros by misusing his position.

“On that date, he took official actions against AE (34), a Turkish citizen under investigation for theft, demanding a payment of 2,000 euros with the assurance of assisting in suspending the criminal proceedings against him, which AE agreed to. Subsequently, in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office, suspects PP and DD arrived at a designated location that night, where AE paid them 1,500 euros, while the remaining balance was to be settled later with a third party,” the statement detailed.
