Tomorrow, Montenegrin water polo players will face a crucial match in the group stage of the World Championship in Fukuoka against Serbia.

The “sharks” will play their third match at 5 a.m., and the outcome will determine their position heading into the knockout round, along with whether they will encounter a tougher or an easier opponent for a shot at the top eight.

A victory over the “dolphins” would secure second place, which – barring any surprises – likely sets our team up to play against Japan in the knockout round instead of Croatia…

Both Montenegro and Serbia share the same intentions ahead of their match.

“There are no secrets between us. Montenegro is known for its aggressive play and high energy – especially strong pressing when they lose the ball, notably from the experienced Čučković in defense. Tešanović ranks among the best goalkeepers in Europe. In attack, they have more options now that Đur Radović has returned; plus, we must not overlook the outstanding centers Spaić and Perković, as well as Vidović and Đurđić who have performed well here,” stated Stefan Ćirić, assistant coach to Uroš Stevanović.

Center Nemanja Ubović is also feeling optimistic.

“We trained together in Kašivazaki. The Montenegrins are organized and well-prepared. I’m confident they have weaknesses that we can capitalize on. This victory means a lot to us, and we will do everything in our power to achieve it,” Ubović commented.
