In their second appearance at the world championships, the Montenegrin mini football team has reached the semi-finals!

Montenegro triumphed over the Czech Republic with a score of 1-0 in the quarter-finals of the World Cup held in Baku, despite the final score not reflecting the true dominance of the game.

Dejan Raspopović’s squad was significantly stronger but struggled with concentration in crucial moments, while the Czech goalkeeper made several impressive saves.

However, Rijad Dervišević from Pljevlja 04 broke through in the 39th minute, managing to fend off a hefty opponent, charging towards the goal and seizing a golden opportunity, even after facing down a defender dressed in the “red” jersey number nine!

Dervišević scored an uncontested goal, marking his fourth in the tournament after just five games. Our players effectively controlled the match and its outcome, but VAR did not work in their favor; a penalty was awarded based on the referee’s assessment of insufficient contact.

The Czechs started with a player as goalkeeper, but to no avail! They lacked genuine scoring chances, while Montenegro squandered two outstanding opportunities on counterattacks.

Goalkeeper Vasilije Gojačanin (Dadi) has also been stellar throughout the tournament, having conceded only one goal over five matches, during the opening game, which ended in a 1:1 draw with Thailand.

Every member of Raspopović’s team is performing exceptionally, evidenced by four consecutive matches without conceding a goal. Darko Rajković also showcased his scoring prowess, having netted the winning goal against Poland in the previous round – 1:0.

In the semi-finals, Montenegro will face the hosts as Azerbaijan defeated England 2:1.

Hungary, following a 1-0 win over Mauritania, will compete against the winner of the closely watched match between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This marks only Montenegro’s second participation in the World Cup, with the primary goal being to advance to the knockout stage.

The nation’s best achievement in mini football is a silver medal at the European Championship.

The world medal matches are approaching!

In Baku, Montenegro’s lineup consists of: – goalkeepers: Nemanja Koprivica (AKMF Stupovi), Vasilije Gojačanin (Dadi gradnja).

Players include: Zoran Kovač – captain (Pljevlja 04 DC Light systems), Dalibor Abramović (Dadi gradnja), Nikola Popović (Dadi gradnja), Aleksandar Bošković (Pljevlja 04 DC Light systems), Nikola Radonjić (SB Sabornog hrama), Ivan Pejaković (Lovćenska vila Cetinje), Miloš Pejaković (Lovćenska vila Cetinje), Luka Savović (Graničar), Darko Rajković (SB Sabornog hrama), Goran Nenezić (G-14), Rijad Dervišević (Pljevlja 04 DC Light systems), Đuro Mugoša (Dadi gradnja), Saša Vukčević (Dadi gradnja).
