Initiating Conversations with Professors and University Representatives Promptly
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić emphasized the urgency of initiating discussions with university professors and representatives in the nation.
“It’s crucial that conversations with professors and university representatives commence without delay, ensuring that everyone acknowledges their responsibilities and understands that dialogue is constructive; solutions can only emerge through discussion,” Vučić stated in an Instagram video.
In addressing the formation of a new Serbian government following Prime Minister Miloš Vučević’s resignation, he remarked that it must be a “Serbian government,” or new elections should be conducted.
“I firmly believe that Serbia can and must operate under a truly Serbian government, if feasible; if not, we should proceed with new elections. We do not require governments imposed from outside or without the people’s consent,” he asserted.
He expressed gratitude to all citizens who participated in the recent protests, as well as to the “significant number of citizens” who peacefully awaited the demonstrations’ conclusion, despite their disagreement with the protests’ demands.
“This serves as an important lesson for all of us. It’s vital because we have maintained peace, stability, and hope for the future.”
Vučić also thanked those citizens who have voiced their support for the state of Serbia, concerned about the nation’s current situation, with a desire for positive change moving forward.
“I mention this because I will remain a steadfast critic of anyone who believes that the atmosphere of fairness and the chaotic environment are appropriate ways to honor the victims of the Novi Sad tragedy.”
He added that extending empathy, support, and assistance to the families is the most respectful approach, distancing himself from “everything else we’ve witnessed,” and asserted that he has “no connection with them.”
