Montenegro’s water polo team faced a defeat in a match they had controlled for over three quarters, ultimately losing to Serbia (17:15) and advancing to a tougher opponent in the round of 16 at the World Championship in Fukuoka.
Finding positives after such a loss is challenging, yet Uroš Čučković, the most seasoned player on our team, supported his younger teammates.
“I take pride in our team’s performance—how we launched the game and maintained our composure throughout. The final result favored Serbia, but I can certainly be proud of the boys—for their effort, determination, and faith until the end,” remarked Čučković from Fukuoka.
The defeat against Serbia likely means the “sharks” will face off against the European champions, Croatia.
“This time, it was Serbia that came out on top, but I believe we demonstrated a better game and stronger unity. I hope this effort will eventually yield results for us,” concluded Čučković.
