Border Police Sector officers have intensified their operations at the border crossings of Podgorica Airport, Ranče, and Vraćenovići, resulting in the arrest of an operational interest individual and two foreign nationals for possessing forged documents, driving under the influence of marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine, as well as following a local search for the purpose of serving a prison sentence.

During a routine check at the Podgorica Airport, police officers from the Regional Border Police Center “Centar” examined the travel documents of a 44-year-old Russian citizen (VS) upon arrival on a foreign airline flight.

“Due to suspicions regarding the authenticity of the passport, a thorough border inspection was performed at the secondary checkpoint, revealing multiple discrepancies indicative of document forgery. Further inquiries confirmed the individual’s true identity as a 51-year-old Russian citizen (MN). He is suspected of purchasing the passport via a website for 1,500 euros in bitcoin, which was subsequently sent to him in Moscow. It is believed that he traversed the borders of Serbia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Turkey with the forged document,” the Police Directorate stated.

Under the direction of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, MN was arrested on suspicion of the criminal offense of document forgery.

A 44-year-old individual (ID) from Bar was examined and arrested at the Vraćenovići border crossing. Police reported that he is flagged as a person of operational interest, with the Bar police issuing a local search warrant due to a 30-day prison sentence ordered by the Court of Misdemeanors. ID will be remanded to the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions.

Officers from the Regional Border Police Center “North” conducted a check on a 46-year-old Serbian citizen (MM) at the Ranče border crossing, who was driving a BMW X1 and tested positive for drugs including marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

“A search revealed three PVC packages containing plant material resembling marijuana, weighing approximately 21 grams, and one PVC package with a tablet of ecstasy,” the police reported.

MM was arrested for violations under the Road Traffic Safety Act and the Drug Abuse Prevention Act, leading to a fine of 1,200 euros imposed by a misdemeanor judge.
