At the start of the All-Star weekend in San Francisco, 17 candidates for induction into the Hall of Fame, Class of 2025, were revealed, including the iconic Dušan Ivković.

This new class will be introduced on April 5th, featuring not only Ivković but also the U.S. national team from the 2008 Olympics, along with Carmelo Anthony, Ban Williams, Dwight Howard, Marquis Johnson, Jerry Welsh, referee Danny Crawford, and coaches Billy Donovan and Mark Few. The women’s category includes Jennifer Azzi, Sue Bird, Sylvia Fowles, Maya Moore, and Moline Bolin, while Mickey Erison and Tal Brody will be honored for their contributions to basketball.

“The new class will be introduced on April 5 in San Antonio, during the NCAA Men’s Championship Final Four,” stated the official announcement from the Hall of Fame Committee.

Dušan Ivković is celebrated as one of the greatest European basketball coaches in history.

As head coach of the Yugoslav national team, he secured a world championship and three European championships, also winning an Olympic silver medal. With Serbia, he was the runner-up in Europe in 2009.

In his club career, Ivković not only earned domestic championships but also won the Euroleague twice with Olympiacos, the Radivoje Korac Cup with Partizan and PAOK, the Rajmund Saporta Cup with AEK, and the ULEB Cup with Dynamo Moscow.

“Ivković’s coaching journey extended over six decades, earning him numerous accolades, including recognition as one of the 50 Most Influential in the Evolution of the Euroleague in 2008, induction into Euroleague Basketball Legends in 2017, and entry into the FIBA Hall of Fame in the same year. He coached legendary European clubs such as Partizan Belgrade and Olympiacos, achieving multiple European titles and mentoring players who became NBA stars like Dražen Petrović, Vlado Divac, and Predrag Stojaković,” remarked the Ivković Hall of Fame Committee.

Dušan Ivković passed away on September 16, 2021.
