The Montenegrin water polo team put forth a tremendous effort in their quarterfinal match against Greece at the World Championship, though at times it wasn’t quite enough.
Teodoros Vlahos’ squad emerged victorious with a score of 10:9, advancing to compete for medals, while the “sharks” have numerous positives to take from their experience in Fukuoka as they prepare for future competitions.
“It’s tough to articulate something profound… It was an intense match with a tremendous desire from our players. I can say that the last two quarters were played superbly, and with fantastic defense, we managed to recover from a poor start. We even showed dominance despite having fewer players,” remarked coach Vladimir Gojković following the match.
He emphasized that there were no complaints after this contest.
“All I can say is that the players demonstrated throughout these games that they can compete with the best, entering those matches on equal footing. While there is certainly a significant regret about not advancing further, we will aim to recover and perform well in the upcoming matches,” Gojković concluded.
