The integration of the Port of Bar’s information system with the SEED+ platform marks a pivotal development in enhancing trade facilitation and logistical efficiency, according to CEFTA.

This data exchange for the movement of empty trucks entering and exiting the Port of Bar Free Zone eradicates the need for multiple manual entries since data is now captured just once in the Port of Bar system and then automatically relayed to SEED.

“Consequently, the transit of trucks in and out of the Free Zone has become markedly quicker and easier, which is advantageous for all primary stakeholders – including transport firms, exporters, importers, port operators, and the Customs Administration,” the announcement stated.

For logistics companies, this integration leads to reduced waiting times at Free Zone gates, ensuring more effective utilization of trucks and drivers. Exporters and importers also benefit from expedited goods transportation, leading to fewer delays and enhanced supply chain reliability.

The port operator gains from quicker goods processing in warehouses, significantly alleviating congestion at the entry and exit points. Moreover, the Customs Administration of Montenegro is able to receive data in advance, allowing them to pivot from manual data entry towards risk assessment and analytics, thereby bolstering security functions within the Free Zone, which is particularly crucial given its sensitive nature.

“Beyond operational enhancements, this integration provides substantial environmental and social benefits. With fewer trucks idling in lengthy queues, air pollution in Bar declines, improving air quality for residents. The city also experiences safer and smoother pedestrian and tourist movement, as the streets are no longer overwhelmed by excessive freight traffic,” the announcement continued.

In summary, the successful integration of these IT systems has not only streamlined trade operations but has also fostered a cleaner, safer, and more efficient transportation ecosystem in Bar.
