The French handball team wrapped up their journey at the 29th World Championship by securing a bronze medal.

France triumphed over Portugal with a score of 35:34 in the third-place match held in Oslo.

The winning goal was netted by Melvin Richardson just 17 seconds before the final buzzer from a penalty shot.

Portugal attempted a final offensive, but French goalkeeper Charles Bolzanger thwarted Antonio Areya’s attempt from the wing, securing the win.

This marks the fifth bronze medal for the French handball squad, in addition to their six gold and two silver medals.

Emerik Minn led the team with ten goals, guiding them to victory.

Dylan Nai also made an impact with six goals, alongside Bolzanger’s impressive performance with eight saves in the second half alone.

For Portugal, Kiko Costa scored eight goals, and Viktor Iturica contributed seven.

Goalkeeper Gustavo Capdevila recorded 11 saves during the match.

The championship title will be contested between Croatia and Denmark at 6 p.m.
