Enhancing cybersecurity and digitalization signifies not only a technological advancement but also a significant democratic progression, as highlighted during a meeting between Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj and Estonian President Alar Karis.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration (MPA), Dukaj welcomed Karis today and demonstrated the capabilities of the Government’s Security Operations Center, G-SOC.

In his introductory remarks, Dukaj addressed the challenges Montenegro has faced from the 2022 cyberattack to the present, highlighting the rapid improvements in cybersecurity.

He pointed out that support from Estonia and other international allies has been vital.

“The cyberattack represented a major challenge but also an opportunity for enhancement, which we capitalized on effectively,” Dukaj asserted.

He is confident that Montenegro can stand as an equal partner in the field of cybersecurity.

“In a world that increasingly depends on digital technologies, the continuation of our partnership is critical for bolstering security and data protection,” Dukaj added.

He expressed appreciation for the prestigious “Partner of the Year 2025” award received from the e-Governance Academy, emphasizing that its significance is amplified by its origin from Estonia, a global leader in cybersecurity.

“For us, this award validates our positive outcomes, achieved through diligent and professional efforts, as well as a reassuring sign that we are headed in the right direction,” he remarked.

Karis, as noted in the statement, conveyed satisfaction with the potential of the Government’s Security Operations Center and the overall progress Montenegro has made since the cyberattack.

“Both parties conveyed a united message that enhancing cybersecurity and digitalization is both a technological and a democratic leap forward, asserting that collaboration is the best method to achieve cutting-edge standards,” the statement concluded.
