Sunderland players have secured their place in the Premier League today after overcoming Sheffield United 2-1 in the play-off final at Wembley, London.

Sheffield United initially took the lead in the 25th minute with a goal from Tyrese Campbell, and his teammate Harrison Burrows had another goal disallowed for offside in the 34th minute.

Sunderland equalized in the 76th minute thanks to a goal from Eliezer Majenda, and Tom Watson clinched the victory in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

This Championship play-off final is dubbed as the most lucrative match globally, with the winner potentially earning over 250 million euros through their return to the Premier League.

Sunderland marks its return to the top tier after an eight-year absence, having been relegated from the Premier League in 2017 and subsequently dropping to the third tier, where they spent three years.

Last season, Sunderland finished 16th in League Two, carrying the odds of being only the 10th favorite for promotion this season with more than 30 to 1.

This season, Leeds and Burnley, the two top teams, have been promoted from the Championship to the Premier League.
