The Montenegrin national basketball team is set to play its final match in the EuroBasket qualifiers against Sweden in Stockholm this Sunday at 17:30. Unfortunately, Boško Radović’s squad will face some challenges for this game.
Compared to their match against Germany, the team will be missing Vladimir Mihailović, Luka Bogavac, and Marko Simonović, as announced by the Basketball Association of Montenegro (KSCG).
Young talent Balša Živanović from Podgorica will be included in the lineup, and Nikola Ivanović is also anticipated to participate after being sidelined in the previous match against Germany.
Coach Radović will not have Bojan Dubljević and Čarlij Mur available for this “window.” In addition to Ivanović, Marko Todorović and Igor Drobnjak also missed the game against Germany.
Currently, Montenegro holds a record of 3-2 going into the final round, and a significant upset is required to prevent them from qualifying for EuroBasket. This scenario would occur if all teams in the group end with a 3-3 record, leaving Montenegro with the lowest point difference.
As it stands, Montenegro’s goal difference is plus nine, while Bulgaria’s is minus 32, and Sweden’s is minus 33.
The European Championship will take place from August 27 to September 14 in Latvia, Poland, Finland, and Cyprus.
