At a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) forum on Saturday evening at the Cultural Center in Lazarevac, Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić labeled the locals who expressed their discontent with whistles as mere cowards.

Speaking to the audience in Lazarevac, she expressed confusion over what these citizens actually wanted.

“Honestly, my dear mothers, I’m unsure of what they desire,” Brnabić stated.

“About two hundred of them showed up here, all cowards; there are no greater cowards… Our brave police stood by while the others were saying ‘hold me back so I don’t get close to them,'” commented the Assembly Speaker.

She questioned, “What if 900 of them decided to attack us? What would they do?” This remark elicited applause from the gathered SNS supporters.

It’s notable that, according to official data, the Lazarevac Cultural Center has a seating capacity of 543, though it’s possible that the Speaker was also counting the police present for security.

“It’s astounding how foolish these individuals are; it’s unbelievable what they are doing,” she added, emphasizing: “Just imagine if such people were ever in charge of Serbia… It’s a frightening thought,” Brnabić concluded, receiving applause from Minister Siniša Mali, who was also part of the panel.

Last night, the residents of Lazarevac met Brnabić and Mali with a chorus of whistles, shouts of “whoa” and “where are you, doctor?”

The state officials were shielded by a large number of specially equipped police officers, who even deployed bulletproof umbrellas as a precaution against potential thrown objects like eggs or rotten tomatoes aimed at SNS officials.
