The Montenegrin women’s handball team triumphed over Italy with a score of 22:11 (8:3, 5:4, 9:4) in Podgorica tonight, securing their top spot in the standings as they head into the final round of the Mediterranean Championship for players under 17.

In this match, the Montenegrin team earned the maximum five points, receiving one point for each period they won, and an additional two points for winning the match.

Earlier in the day, they achieved a victory against Tunisia with a score of 21:18. Throughout the competition, Montenegrin players have recorded four wins and a draw.

As they approach the final round of the group stage, the Montenegrin national team has accumulated 20.5 points, putting them half a point ahead of second-place Slovakia.

Montenegro will face Turkey in the final round on Friday at 10:30 AM. A victory will guarantee their qualification for the finals, irrespective of the result from the Slovakia-Italy match, which is scheduled for 11 AM.

The Montenegrin team holds a superior head-to-head record against its closest rival for the top position.

This talented group, coached by Miloš Perović and Bobana Krstović, celebrated their fourth victory with just one draw, outperforming Italy 22:11 (8:3, 5:4, 9:4), which secured them the maximum five points.

Ivana Savić and Nejla Hodžić were the standout players in this match, each scoring five goals, while Andrea Jovanović added four goals. Jovana Tešović also shone with three goals, and Maša Dubljević made seven crucial saves.
