Montenegrin boxer Strahinja Mrdak has advanced to the semifinals and clinched a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships held in Novi Pazar.

He triumphed over Serbian national team member Jovan Dimitrijević in the quarterfinals of the 50 kg category, winning by unanimous decision – 5:0.

“He displayed remarkable maturity in the ring. This victory is not just his individual achievement, but a testament to teamwork, discipline, and dedication. It serves as a significant boost for our other boxers and reinforces Montenegro’s ability to stand alongside the top boxing nations in Europe,” stated national team coach Boško Drašković.

In the semifinals scheduled for Monday, he will take on Tigran Kiragosyan from Armenia.

Another Montenegrin participant, Matija Roganović, did not reach the quarterfinals in the 80 kg category, falling to the Spaniard Efosa Igbinovia Igberese, who won by a score of 4:1.

Nikola Raičević is set to compete on Saturday, facing Azerbaijani Ali Aliyev in the quarterfinals of the 48 kg category. Aliyev had previously eliminated Petar Trajčevski from North Macedonia.

Alongside Drašković, Montenegrin athletes in Novi Pazar are also supported by coaches Slavko Mrdak and Sergej Kudravcjov. A total of 164 competitors from 19 countries are participating in the championship.
