The Transport Ministers of Montenegro and Saudi Arabia, Maja Vukićević and Saleh bin Nasser Al-Yaser, have formalized an agreement on air transport between their nations.
The agreement was announced during the Global Forum on Transport Connectivity 2025, currently taking place in Istanbul.
“This bilateral agreement establishes a legal foundation for initiating direct flights between Montenegro and Saudi Arabia, paving the way for enhanced economic and tourism connections, as well as overall cooperation between our two friendly nations,” the statement read.
Following the signing, Vukićević highlighted that the opening of air routes between Montenegro and Saudi Arabia also facilitates new investment, tourism, and business prospects.
“This is a significant advancement for global connectivity for Montenegro, elevating its status as an appealing destination within the Middle East,” Vukićević stated.
The agreement aligns with the Chicago Convention and the latest international civil aviation standards, enabling airlines from both countries to plan flights freely, while ensuring adherence to safety, technical, and commercial criteria.
The Global Transport Forum in Turkey convened senior officials from various countries and international organizations, focusing on infrastructure investments, regional collaboration, and the promotion of sustainable mobility.
