The Montenegrin women’s handball team will convene in Podgorica tomorrow to kick off their preparations during the EHF Week.
This marks the first assembly of the Montenegrin women’s handball squad since the European Championship, where they secured eighth place.
The gathering in March will also serve as a starting point for preparations ahead of the play-off against Portugal for a spot in the World Cup, set to take place in Germany and the Netherlands later this year.
The first leg of the play-off is scheduled for April 9th in Portugal, while the second leg will occur in Podgorica three days later.
Coach Suzana Lazović has already released a squad list featuring 22 female handball players.
Notably, the roster includes two debutants: Lokomotiva Zagreb winger Mela Mehmedović and Czech club Hazena Kinžvart defender Marija Božović.
Lazović will be without Jelena Radivojević, who has announced her retirement from the national team.
The squad features goalkeepers – Armel Atingre, Anastasija Babović Vujović, Marta Batinović, Jovana Kadović, and Marija Marsenić.
Wingers – Dijana Mugoša, Ivona Pavicevic, Mela Mehmedović, Nina Bulatović, and Milica Trifunović.
Pivots – Tatjana Brnović, Ivana Godeč, and Andrijana Tatar.
Defenders – Đurđina Jauković, Ilda Kepić, Matea Pletikosić, Nikolina Marković, Marija Božović, Katarina Džaferović, Tanja Ivanović, and Jelena Vukčević.
No friendly matches are scheduled during EHF Week.
The first training session is set for tomorrow at 17:00 in the University of Montenegro gym.
