From Budva, Ivan Delic (55) is currently in a shared cell at the pre-trial detention center. His roommate does not have connections to high-ranking criminal factions, according to unofficial reports from Vijesti.

Prior to assigning Delić a cellmate, the administration at Supša prison needed to assess the security risks associated with housing him. This evaluation influenced the decision on his accommodation within the facility.

It was critical to ensure that the fifty-five-year-old was not placed with other defendants involved in his case.

Delić and Aleksandar Keković (34), also known as Arkan, were extradited to Montenegro from Dubai two days ago. They had been apprehended in mid-May.

The Montenegrin authorities have been on the lookout for Delic since July of last year due to suspicions of his involvement with a criminal group led by Vasa Street and Radoja Zvicer, which was dismantled during the large-scale operation dubbed “General”.

Zvicer and Ulić are identified as the heads of a criminal syndicate accused of trafficking approximately 2.5 tons of cocaine. Their organization includes individuals serving lengthy prison sentences, such as Damir Mandić, as well as members of the infamous “America” clan, operating since the 1970s.

In addition to Delić, Zvicer, who eluded capture on July 17, 2024, Leon Drešaj from Tuzi, and Vuk Vulević from Berane are also part of the investigation.

In security circles, Operation “General” is regarded as one of the most significant disruptions to organized crime, given the high-profile suspects involved in transnational cocaine trafficking.

First solitary, then we found him company

A source from the Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (UIKS) stated that after a few days of solitary confinement for security evaluations and cellmate checks, the former secret agent was moved to a collective room with Dusko Golubovic.

The room reportedly does not contain any members of organized crime, as clarified in the report.

“Neither he nor the other detainees are afforded special treatment. They are treated in accordance with the established laws and regulations governing their rights and responsibilities during detention or incarceration,” stated Vijesti’s source.

On the orders of the Special State Prosecutor’s Office, Golubović, a former operative in secret and public police, was detained on May 9th.

Special prosecutors allege that he amassed a considerable fortune in cash and real estate both in Montenegro and abroad through laundering millions of euros obtained from cigarette smuggling.

Throughout the prolonged investigation conducted by the SDT and the Special Police Department, numerous pieces of evidence regarding questionable cash flows linked to the purchase of luxurious properties in Montenegro and abroad have surfaced. Traces of bank accounts believed to be involved in suspicious financial activities have also been identified. Unofficially, it appears that foreign partners assisted Montenegrin authorities in the investigation.

According to earlier reports by “Vijesti” from different sources, it’s anticipated that the investigation against the retired police operative will expand…
