The police have confiscated 51 kilograms of cut tobacco from an Albanian citizen residing permanently in Montenegro, identified as SS (26). Criminal charges have been filed against her for illegal trafficking.

“Officers from the Regional Border Police Center, specifically the Border Police Station I Podgorica, intercepted a Peugeot 307 with Berane license plates on the Zeta – Podgorica main road in the town of Cijevna, driven by SS (51), a citizen of Albania residing in Montenegro.

“During this incident, police discovered 26 kilograms of cut tobacco, packaged in half-kilogram bags, in the trunk of the vehicle,” stated the Police Directorate (UP).

Additionally, the police conducted a search of the apartment and other locations associated with SS in the village of Mahala in Zeta, collaborating with the acting prosecutor from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.

“Based on the information gathered from this individual, the acting prosecutor determined that the actions of SS constituted the elements of the criminal offense of illicit trafficking.

Formal criminal charges will be brought against SS through the standard legal proceedings.

“In the upcoming period, police officers will intensify their efforts to detect and combat criminal activities related to illicit trade, aiming to uphold public safety and enforce the law,” the UP statement concludes.
