I will not resign, but I will leave without severance pay if the club and fans want it

“I Won’t Resign, but I’ll Depart Without Severance If That’s What the Club and Fans Prefer”

Manchester United’s coach, Ruben Amorim, stated he has no intentions of resigning following the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham (0:1). However, he indicated that he would step down without objection if the board and fans feel he is not the ideal fit for the role.

“I have nothing to prove to the supporters. At this point, it all comes down to faith. If the management and fans believe I am not the right choice, I’ll leave tomorrow, without any further discussions regarding severance pay. But I won’t resign. I have confidence in my work and will maintain my approach,” Amorim mentioned at a press conference, as reported by the BBC.

Despite missing out on trophies and enduring a lackluster season—where United failed to qualify for European competition for the first time since 2014—the club’s personnel remain steadfast in their support for Amorim for the moment.

The loss in Bilbao complicates the club’s strategies for the upcoming summer transfer window. Without Champions League revenue, further budget reductions are anticipated.

The match against Tottenham marked the 15th instance this season where United failed to score.

“We were the superior team, yet we couldn’t find the back of the net. We had opportunities, but it’s not just about one player; several didn’t meet expectations,” Amorim commented.
