Sutjeska Bolsters Squad for Upcoming Season

As Volleyball Club Sutjeska from Nikšić makes its return to the top tier of Montenegrin volleyball, the EPCG Superliga, it embarks on a new season filled with ambition and significant player reinforcements. The phase of adjustment is in the past, and the club is poised to elevate its performance and contend for the highest possible rankings.

A standout addition is the return of Vladan Stojanović from Jedinstvo. Stojanović, who developed his volleyball skills at Sutjeska, brings invaluable experience and leadership that will enhance the team’s performance across all areas of the game.

Joining him is Rade Papović, a former player for Budvanska Rivijera, with whom he achieved four double crowns. His comeback from retirement will serve as a robust source of motivation for the younger athletes, who will benefit from his expertise during both practices and competitions.

Nikola Nikčević, a middle blocker who has spent the last four years playing for the prestigious US Military Academy at West Point, adds further depth to the team, enhancing their blocking and attacking capabilities.

The club’s president, Milan Jovićević, is noticeably optimistic about the upcoming season.

“After a season of adjustments and restructuring, OK Sutjeska is gearing up for the new championship with heightened ambitions. The core team remains intact from last season, and we have brought in reinforcements that will elevate our level of play. Vladan Stojanović, coming from Jedinstvo, is a significant asset for our lineup—he ensures strong performance in all facets and acts as a leader on the court. Rade Papović’s return from retirement adds tremendous value to our game and helps in mentoring younger players with his vast experience. We are particularly excited about Nikola Nikčević, who played for the West Point Academy team in the USA for four years. With a few talented young players joining the first team, there’s ample room for optimism and a belief that a successful season lies ahead,” Jovićević stated.

Vladan Stojanović, returning to the club where he began his volleyball journey, expressed the special emotional significance of his return.

“Coming back to the place where it all started is a unique feeling. I’m thrilled to be back in this environment. The atmosphere, the people, and the support here have always felt like home to me. I have faith in the team, our coaching staff, and what we can accomplish together. Our goal is to compete fiercely in every match, especially given that some teams are preparing for European competitions, while ours will predominantly feature home-grown talent. We aim to develop as a team and strive for the best outcomes in the upcoming season. We eagerly await the start of training, the team assembly, and the season kickoff. Our hope is for a smooth journey free of injuries, allowing us to deliver outstanding performances,” said Stojanović.
